Alex Stein is a freelance scholar, writer and political commentator. He lives, works, and loves in a place called Zion. Alex is a compulsive reader of contemporary literary fiction, a moderately engaged follower of Liverpool Football Club, and a devotee of hip-hop music. He can be contacted here
Alex Stein was born and raised in London, Britain. He did a B.A. in History at the University of Manchester and an M.Phil in International Relations at the University of Cambridge, where he was the Queens’ College Abba Eban Scholar. He has also been a youth worker for the Jewish youth movement Noam. In 2006 he made aliyah and the following year was called up to the IDF, where he served in the External Relations division of the Israeli Home Front Command. He currently works as the Overseas Desk Coordinator for Orr Shalom, a non-profit working with Israeli children-at-risk. In addition, he also writes regularly for the Guardian’s Comment is Free site.
