#1 is a disgrace.

#2 you can teach people to improve their writing a little, but so much of it is just in you or not.

#3 Just sick.

#1 – I would guess that 70% (I’m not sure if it’s including ‘personal’ bomb shelters) is sadly a figure all too common across Israel.

I’m only assuming this due to my wife’s story. She called this week to find out where the bomb shelter was in Katamon – there’s 3, the closest one being 10-15 minute walk. Katamon’s population must be around 4000-6000 (I’m guessing) – so I wonder what % those 3 bomb shelters can ’shelter’ % wise.

If the figure does include personal bomb shelters, it needs to be ‘mandatory’ to add one (a miklat) to all houses built nowadays.

Avram – I’m fairly certain the code today requires all residences to be built with a shelter as a room in the apartment. On that note, for whatever reason, there is a lot of illegal construction in the Arab sector, which could explain some of that.

I was not able to find figures about construction in the Arab sector in the north, and the only figure I did find (for all of Israel) seemed to imply that it only referred to construction on stolen/public land – not buildings on private land that not meet the code.

Regardless of the exact numbers, Arabs do not have the same access to bomb shelters or even early warning systems that Jews do.

“Regardless of the exact numbers”

To be honest, that number so is misleading. Who is building the houses in the Arab sectors? Ie, what companies? That’s where an investigation should be launched as ‘miklatim’ should be built in every apartment now – and that’s where issue lies if it’s being ‘ignored’.

#1 is a huge disgrace! There’s a terrible discrimination of Arabs in Israel and it reminds me of South Africa! Israelis think that a life of an Arab does not worth a dime and they don’t supply them with a decent protection! The Jews should be ashamed of themselves!
