I don’t think there is any need for the Jewish-American heritage month, actually I think it’s completely pointless and don’t even see why it was done.

The position of the Palestinian Israelis is one of the most facinating ones and something I have had first hand experience with. While treatment of the Palestinians in the WB and Gaza can be rationalized by many on security grounds, the unequal treatment of Palestinian Israelis cannot. Israelis will say “well they don’t serve in the army” but of course, neither do Haredim and they get preferential treatment. I heard one Palestinian Israeli put it best “we are caught in a war between our people and our nation” which is an impossible position to be in. The stupid thing about it is that if Israel were willing to give Palestinian Israelis equal, or at least much better treatment, it would lead to much less resentment, less religious extremism, and lower birth rates all things that the right in Israel would support.

As regards lazy sloganeering: it’s a bit difficult to write a nuanced essay in that format, don’t you think? Al good fun, like you said.
