Interesting, I like the atmosphere of this story. My most recent memory of TA bus station is changing sheruts there on a Friday night, I came in from Haifa at about 11 pm and then waited approx 30 minutes for a sherut for Jerusalem to fill up. A happy looking Chinese family sauntered past plus assorted others. A sherut middle man leaned in the door at one point and loudly harangued the few passengers that if we all agreed to pay more, we could get going at once. No-one else said anything so nor did I, the night was young.

Re driving, well Josie just passed her practical test, so however this story ends, won't you have to do that one too? She got on all right and passed it.

Interesting read. The Tel Aviv bus station is a hideous building but is also the centre of one of the most interesting places in TA. The Sudanese refugees gathering in the park opposite. The Philippino and Thai workers hanging out inside. It is the place in Israel you are most likely to hear a language other than Hebrew, Arabic, English, Russian, or French. The noisy mish-mash of sheruts going all over the country. It is also surrounded by real poverty-homeless addicts hunkering down in graffiti-covered alleyways.
