I don’t find it too funny, no. In some years time, Annie Lennox and other people who had the moral clarity to say something like that (and some guts, given how easy it seems to be to ridicule them) will be remembered as the sane people in the house, and some, like Gideon Levy, as the righteous of Sodom.

sorry to sound humourless, but the timing of this is in pretty bad taste considering what’s happening. and I think it’s slightly unfair to cast her as another bono, given that – according to hp, and an interview given yesterday – she’s been one of the few people to stick her neck out about the qassams as well as criticise the current escalation. her brief comments on the news were much more apposite than tony benn’s pompous utterences. it’d be a shame if you lost potential readers because of this, however funny it would have been at another point.
